I've been painting, drawing and creating for years now but I remember the time when I didn't have a clue about what paints to buy, what paper to use and would ask my self why were there so many different kinds of drawing pencils?!
So, I'm going to do a few blogs to share what I use and where you can get them and also that you don't have to buy the most expensive product on the market - although there are some things you need to spend a little bit on. I want to highlight these are my personal preferences and that everyone is different.
I do LOADS of sketching so needed to find a book with decent paper, hard backed and not too pricey.
So let me introduce you to The Pink Pig sketchbooks - They come in a huge range of colours and sizes, the paper is 150 gsm and can come in white, off white, black and brown.
They are value for money and can take most mediums . I also like the spiral bound
element as it means they are a little more robust when I chuck the book in my sketching satchel when I'm on my travels. In very hot countries the heat can affect the binding in some bound sketchbook so I prefer spiral for that reason when going somewhere particularly hot or humid.
The images above are done in my Pink Pigs so hopefully it gives you an idea of what the paper can take.
The company also make water colour sketchbooks which you can see here - and I've added a link below to show you the range of books available.
There will be more blogs to come
Happy Sketching guys.
